Animal Production
Work in Animal Production is concentrated on ruminants
and concerns nutrition, management, animal breeding,
genetics and reproduction. Investigations in animal
nutrition aim at determining the nutritional requirements
of livestock at various stages of their production cycle and
the nutritive value of local feeds and by-products. Genetic
improvement of livestock production is pursued by selection
and crossbreeding. Reproductive physiology investigates
aspects of fertility and precocity.
