Field Crops

The main activities of the Field Crops section concern
breeding of barley for grain, forage and pastures, breeding
of durum wheat for bread and pasta products, grain quality
studies, cereal diseases, selection of varieties and
management of forage cereals and variety evaluation and
cultural practices of food legumes, aromatic and medicinal
plants and amenity grasses, legumes and food legumes,
studies on crop rotation and nutrition of rainfed cereals
and legumes, cultural practices of dryland farming and
mechanization of field and vegetable crops, and greenhouse
heating.The possibility of growing new crops under rainfed
conditions or with supplementary irrigation, is examined.
