Consumer Price Index for the Month of December, 1999

The Department of Statistics and Research announces that the Consumer Price Index for December, 1999 increased by 0,63 units or 0,49 per cent to 128,46 units compared to 127,83 in the previous month. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of certain fresh vegetables and electricity. Decreases have been recorded in the prices of certain fresh fruit and potatoes.

 

The average rate of increase of the Index for the whole year 1999 (January-December) compared to 1998 was 1,74%.
