Consumer Price Index for the
Month of February, 1999 |
The Department of Statistics and Research announces that
the Consumer Price Index for February, 1999 decreased by 2,29 units or 1,86 per cent to
123,03 units compared to 120,74 in the previous month. This is mainly due to decreases in
the prices of certain clothing and footwear items due to sale discounts as well as to
decreases in the prices of certain fresh fruit and potatoes.
2. The average rate of increase of the Index for the last twelve months (i.e. March
1998-February 1999) compared to the preceding twelve months (i.e. March 1997-February
1998) was 2,0%.
The Index of February 1999 compared to the Index of February 1998 showed an increase of
0,42%. |
