The Consumer Price Index for July 2000 remained at about the same level as the Index of June recording a marginal decrease of 0,03 units or 0,03% to 105,47 units compared to 105,50 units in June 2000. Decreases in July were recorded in the prices of clothing and footwear due to summer sales discounts as well as to the abolition of the CBC charges. Increases were recorded in the prices of petroleum products, certain fresh fruit and vegetables as well as to price increases of certain products and services due to an increase in the value added tax. 2. The average rate of increase of the Index for the period January-July 2000 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4,39%. 3. The average rate of increase of the Index for the last twelve months (i.e. August 1999 - July 2000) compared to the preceding twelve months (i.e. August 1998 - July 1999) was 3,35%. 4.
