Trade Statistics for January 2001 |
The main developments in Cyprus Foreign Trade in
January 2001 as compared with January 2000 were:
- Total imports (covering imports for home consumption and imports
placed into bonded warehouses) totalled £183,2 mn as compared with
£142,3 mn in January 2000. Total exports reached £46,2 mn compared
to £41,3 mn in January 2000. The trade deficit accounted for £137,0
mn compared to £101,0 mn.
- Imports for home consumption increased to £149,2 mn in January 2001
and £112,8 mn in January 2000. Intermediate inputs imported for home
consumption valued at £56,3 mn or 37,7% followed by consumer goods
with £35,6 mn or 23,8%, capital goods with £21,5 mn or 14,4%,
transport equipment with £19,3 mn or 13,0% and fuels and lubricants
with £16,5 mn or 11,1%.
- Domestic exports, including shipstores, valued at £15,8 mn as
compared with £15,0 mn in January 2000 and re-exports, including
shipstores, to £30,4 mn compared to £26,2 mn in January 2000.
Industrial products of domestic produce exported in January 2001
accounted for £12,5 mn or 83,5%. Exports of raw agricultural products
in January 2001 valued at £2,4 mn.
- In January 2001 the EU countries supplied Cyprus with goods valued
at £96,1 mn or 52,4% and absorbed goods valued at £7,5 mn or 49,8%
of Cyprus domestic exports, excluding shipstores.
