Foreign Trade Statistics for the
Period January - November 2000 |
The main developments in Cyprus foreign trade during the period
January-November 2000 as compared with January-November 1999, were:
Total imports (covering imports for home consumption and imports placed
into bonded warehouses) rose to £2.189,5 mn as compared with £1.766,7 mn
in January-November 1999. Total exports reached £552,6 mn compared to £495,8
mn in January-November 1999. The trade deficit accounted for £1.636,9 mn
compared to £1.270,8 mn.
Imports for home consumption increased to £1.791,0 mn during
January-November, 2000 compared to £1.453,6 mn in January-November 1999.
Intermediate inputs imported for home consumption valued at £615,9 mn or
34,4% followed by consumer goods with £523,5 mn or 29,2%, fuels and
lubricants with £248,5 mn or 13,9%, capital goods with £213,7 mn or
11,9% and transport equipment with £171,8 mn or 9,6%.
Domestic exports including shipstores, went up to £222,3 mn as
compared with £195,8 mn in January-November 1999, and re-exports,
including shipstores, to £330,3 mn compared to £300,1 mn in
January-November 1999. Industrial products of domestic produce exported
during January-November 2000 accounted for £172,6 mn or 83,7%. Exports of
raw agricultural products in January-November 2000 valued at £32,2 mn.
During January-November 2000 the EU countries supplied Cyprus with
goods valued at £1.131,6 mn or 51,7% and absorbed goods valued at £106,2
mn or 51,5% of Cyprus domestic exports excluding shipstores.
