Statistics for the Period January - November 2002 |
The main developments in
Cyprus foreign trade during the period January-November 2002 were:
(a) Total
imports (covering imports for home consumption and imports placed into
bonded warehouses) were £2.264,0 mn as compared with £2.340,6 mn in
January-November 2001. Total exports amounted to £472,3 mn compared to
£586,3 mn during January-November 2001. The trade deficit accounted for
£1.791,7 mn compared to £1.754,3 mn in the corresponding period of 2001.
(b) Imports
for home consumption totalled £2.045,4 mn compared to £2.012,6 mn in
January-November 2001. Intermediate inputs imported for home consumption in
January-November 2002 valued at £654,0 mn or 32,0%, followed by consumer
goods with £592,5 mn or 29,0%, transport equipment with £257,0 mn or 12,6%,
capital goods with £220,8 mn or 10,8% and fuels and lubricants with £211,9
mn or 10,4%.
(c) Domestic
exports, including stores and provisions valued at £214,5 mn as compared
with £228,7 mn in January-November 2001 and re-exports, including stores and
provisions to £257,8 mn compared to £357,6 mn in the corresponding period of
2001. Industrial products of domestic produce exported in January-November
2002 accounted for £168,1 mn or 81,8% while exports of raw agricultural
products valued at £34,6 mn or 16,8%.
(d) During
the period January-November 2002 the EU countries supplied Cyprus with goods
valued at £1.203,7 mn or 53,2% and absorbed goods valued at £110,1
mn or 53,6% of Cyprus domestic exports, excluding stores and provisions.
