Professional and Personal Profile
I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Cyprus in 1972.
After high-school and a 2 year military service, my earning
of a
Fulbright scholarship allowed me to go to the United States in
1992 for studies in environmental engineering.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering
(emphasis on Wastewater Treatment) from the
University of Florida , Gainesville, Florida, in 1996.
I continued in the same
school to receive a Master's degree in
Environmental Engineering (Systems Analysis)
and a graduate degree in Wetlands Science and Hydrology in 1999.
During that period I worked on
the design and development of an
experimental facility that accommodated salinity fluctuation
on aquatic plants of Florida Bay, as well as computer modeling
of ecological and engineered systems.
In the fall of 1999 I joined the
Department of Civil Engineering
of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina
pursuant of my Doctoral degree, which I earned in 2002.
My Dissertation was titled
"Development of a Decision Support Methodology
for the Design of Animal Waste Management Strategies to Achieve
Regional Environmental Objectives".
and it was in the general field of Environmental Systems Analysis.
After graduation I returned home, to Cyprus where I
worked for the Research
Promotion Foundation of Cyprus. in addition I were
active as an independent Environmental Engineering Consultant
on the island.
In September 2003 I joined the faculty of
the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of
the American University
of Beirut in Lebanon, where I was an Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering until September 2005.
Starting October 1 2005, I joined the faculty of the
Cyprus International Institute
for the Environment and Public Health in Association with
Harvard
School of Public Health as a Lecturer in Environmental Engineering.
