The Ministry of
Defence is entrusted with the implementation of
the government policy on matters relating to the
security and the safeguard of the
Republic%26rsquo;s territorial integrity. Within
this context, the Ministry of Defence has
promoted a series of measures aiming at the
reinforcement of Cyprus' defence capability in
order to counter any foreign aggression and to
strengthen the Republic's international
position.
Moreover the
Ministry of Defence is responsible for the
maintenance of the Cyprus Army, which was
established in accordance with the London and
Zurich Agreements and the National Guard, formed
in 1964. |
