Well not " O sizigos"! "I sizigos" is perfectly fine though and that's how you should call her.
it may help you understand better if you know where the word comes from and what it means exactly:
It's from the preposition sin (συν) = together, plus
and the word (ζυγός) zigos = which in this case means "bound together" (i.e. like two cattle under a zigos -also yoke- hehe).
So O/I sizigos is the person you are bound together with.
I don't know where "spouse" comes from but it is indeed the best translation of sizigos (and vice versa) |
