please could someone give me brief instruction on these two words..i understand mazi to be with (as in exo pataksei mazi sou ;o) ) but also me means with as in koutopoulo me fetta?? is there a rule to which you have to adgere to when using the word with? thank you all in advance...and i have completely misunderstood this please correct me!! efharisto poli x |

Μαζί means together, while με means with As in English language too, together and with have similar meanings So the rule is kind of simple.Use μαζί when want to point "together" and use με when you want to point with Eg. Θέλω σάντουιτς με ντομάτα I want a sandwitch with tomato Θές να πάμε μαζί? Do you want us to go together? -------------------------------------- Since they have similar meanings, you can in most case use them both Θα τα πάρουμε μαζί μας?? Are we going to take them With us?? *Notice here μαζί is used like with instead of together Ok I'm not much of a literature teacher,I'm just a native speaker so..I'm sure I'm right about the expression and meaning part...As for the rule part,someone more into literature and grammar could define it better

Tricky one! Theodore did a pretty good job explaining it but let me add some notes: "Mazi" to be exact means "together" "Me" means with So Tha to valo mazi me ta alla I will put it together with the others Now note that nice example of Theodore: Tha ta paroume mazi mas? It is most definitely translated as "are we going to take them with us?" However note the meaning; It is not the same as a sandwich with tomato. A sanwich with tomato includes tomato whereas what we're asking here is whether they will come together with us. Does this help at all? |
