Fig.3.:Traces of the Roman past :the gymnasium near Salamis in which men and boys were able to engage in sports under the supervision of instructors . In classical antiquity this was done on principle completely undressed , hence the name of the institution - 'gymnos' means naked . The majority of the pillars were brought here from the theatre during a restoration in the early Byzantine period .
