THE CHARTERED ASSOCIATION OF CERTIFIED ACCOUNTANTS (ACCA)

The chartered Association of Certified Accountants is one of the world's oldest and leading accountancy organizations. It awards its own accountancy qualification, which has widespread international recognition.

To become a member you have to pass a series of professional examinations and obtain a minimum of three years financial training.

Career Prospects

Once qualified, there are no limits. The ACCA qualification ensures that you can work in any sector of the economy, the accounting/auditing profession, the banking sector, any type of local or international business and the government. Your training can lead to a financially rewarding lifestyle and a constantly varied career.

You will also be provided with the opportunity to work not only in your native country but overseas as well. In addition, the examinations are based on International Accounting Standards (IAS's), which, because they are relevant to international accounting and finance, give you a truly portable qualification, which, you can take with you anywhere in the world.

Registration with ACCA

You can register with ACCA if you have ANY of the following qualifications:

    1. Successful Completion of GCES/ GCSEs

    • 2 GCE Advanced Level (grade A-E) and
    • 3 GCSE ordinary Level (grade A-C) in 5 separate subjects including English and Mathematics, or

     2. International Equivalents

    • International equivalents are also recognized, or

    3. Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)

    • Students who have completed the Intermediate Stage can register as ACCA students. Students who have completed the Technician Stage can register as ACCA students and can be exempted from papers 1 and 3 of the ACCA Foundation Stage, or

    4. Certified Accounting Technicians (CAT)

    • Students who have completed the exams of CAT can register as students of ACCA and can be exempt from the ACCA Foundation Stage papers 1 to 4, or

    5. University Degree

    • Holders of any recognized University degree irrespective of major can register with ACCA and can gain exemptions in certain papers, or

    6. Mature Student Entry Route (MSER)

    • If you do not meet the minimum requirements but you are 21 years of age or older you can still register under the MSER.

The ACCA Examinations

The syllabus is examined in 3 stages.

      14. Financial Strategy

Upon completion of each Stage, the student receives a diploma from ACCA.
