Director, Peter Skelton , who joined us in late August 2000 and who will be here to lead "The Council of the Future" - the Council's vision and planning into year 2005 and beyond. Peter has worked with the Council since 1976 and was Regional Director East and Central Africa/Director Kenya, Director East Jerusalem (West Bank and Gaza), Director Hamburg, Germany. He also worked in Zambia, Wales, Peru, Jordan and in the Council's English Teaching Information Centre in Britain. Agnie Charitou, Assistant Director, has been with the Council since 1969. Before joining the Council she worked for a short period with the BBC in London. In 1971 she became an Associate Member of the British Institute of Management. In her Council career she has been involved in a number of areas, including managing educational development projects, scholarships and exchanges. She became Assistant Director in October 1995. Rachel Davey joined us as Country Examinations Manager. She spent three years as Director of Studies at the British Council, Cairo. She has a degree in Modern Languages from Cambridge and an MSC in ELT Management from the University Surrey. Nicos Karanikis, Arts Manager, joined the Council in October 1959 as a library assistant. He has been Arts Manager since 1983 and has developed a very lively, collaborative arts programme. In what little spare time he has, he is Secretary General of the Cyprus Photographic Society and Secretary of the Commonwealth Liaison Unit of Cyprus. Angela Ergatoude is Library and Information Manager. Angela joined the Council in 1998 and had been working for the Examinations Services Unit, she previously worked with both local and international companies in their sales and marketing function. She holds a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and a Masters in Clinical Biochemistry, as well as a Diploma in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing and a Diploma in Communications, Advertising and Marketing from CAM Foundation. Marina Ioannou, Projects and Scholarships Officer, graduated from St Godrick's College London in 1968. She joined the British Council in 1969 and has previously worked in Administration and Examinations. For the past few years she has been in the Projects and Scholarships Programmes and has been Head of the unit since 1995. Dilek Behcetogullari has been Education Officer at the British Council since August 1996. She has an MA degree in TEFL, and previously taught at the Eastern Mediterrranean University, Famagusta. Currently she is working on her PhD with Nottingham University. Rita Stamataris has been with the British council for over 20 years in the Exams, Library, Arts, IT and Accounts units. She is currently Office Manager with responsibilty for all financial and administrative matters, including IT. Anthie Panayidou joined the Council in September 1971 as an Examinations Assistant, and later served as an Information Education Assistant. In April 1988 she was appointed Education Counsellor. Anthie has a wide knowledge of the various courses offered by British higher and further education institutions and is an expert advisor to Cypriot students and their parents. She is the contact person between the Ministry of Education's Counselling and Guidance Service, school counsellors and British institutions.
