Mixed-Ability Teaching Workshop | |
The British Council is collaborating with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Graz-based European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML) on a workshop to be held in Nicosia in November 1999. The theme is 'foreign languages', but we expect a heavy emphasis on ELT. The workshop is a logical outcome of last year's Review of ELT in Cypriot Schools led by Costas Markou of the Ministry and Roger Bowers, with Council support. ELT professionals, and those with a general interest in the subject, might wish to look up the fascinating Bowers/Markou 'Talking Shop' in the current English Language Teaching Journal (ELTJ), vol. 53/2, April '99. The Teaching and Learning of Foreign Languages in Mixed-Ability Classes Participation: Open to delegates from all member states of the ECML. The ECML shall cover the travel costs for one delegate from each of the following countries; Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Malta, Romania, the "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia".
