The currency of the Republic is the Cyprus
pound - C£, which is divided into 100 cents.
Notes and coins currently in circulation
are as follows:

cents, 50 cents.
[INLINE] The Cyprus Pound is not traded
internationally. Commercial Banks quote
daily the the exchange rates of the Cyprus
Pound against all traded foreign
currencies while the Central Bank quotes
daily the Cyprus Pound vis-a-vis the ECU
(European Currency Unit), the U.S. dollar,
the Pound Sterling, the Deutsche Mark and
the Greek Drachma.
Exchange rates (selling by Banks)

1. Visitors to Cyprus can import up to C£50
in Cyprus Currency notes. There is no
limit on the amount they can import in
foreign currency notes, cheques.
travellers-cheques and other negotiable
instruments. Amounts of Foreign
exchange in excess of the equivalent of
US dollars 1000, - should be declared at
Customs on form D (NR) to facilitate
deposit in external or foreign currency
accounts with banks in Cyprus, aquisition
of property, or re-export.

2. Visitors can export up to C£50 in Cyprus
currency notes. The unspent balance of
currency notes originally imported and
declared at the customs on arrival on
form D (NR) and the unspent balance of
imported cheques, travellers cheques,
etc., not having been converted into
Cyprus pounds, can also be exported.
Visitors can also export upto the
equivalent of USD 1.000 in foreign
currency notes, which they imported even
without the production of a D (NR) form.

following articles in the quantities
specified without payment of lmport duty.

spirit of not more than 0,15 litre.

jewellery): up to a total value of C£50,
[INLINE] NOTES:
1. However when. a passenger re-enters the
Republic of Cyprus after a stay abroad of less
than 72 hours, he is allowed to import free of
duty only 250 grams of tobacco.
[INLINE] Notification to travellers.
[INLINE] The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural
Resources wishes to inform all travellers that,
in order to protect the agriculture of the country from the danger of the introduction of
new pests and diseases, the importation of
agncultural products or propagating stock,
such as fruit, vegetables, cut-flowers, dry nuts.
seeds, bulbs, bulb-wood sticks, cuthngs, etc..
without the approval of the competent
authorities, is prohibited.
According to the Diseases of Plants
(Prevention) Law and the Importation of
Produce (Control Orders, the transportation of
agricultural products or propagating stock
from abroad is prohibited unless a relevant
licence has been previously issued by the
Director of the Department of Agriculture.
Upon their arrival in Cyprus. such products
should be declared at the Customs Officers.
whereupon they will be kept for
phytosanitary inspection by Authorised
Agricultural Officers.
Any person contravening the Law and the
Orders made under it, is liable, in case he is
found guilty, to a fine and / or imprisonment.
