        Passenger and cruise traffic in Cyprus is served by the multipurpose ports of Lemesos and Larnaka on the south coast of the country.

        [INLINE] As a result of the Turkish invasion and military occupation of the northern part of Cyprus the port of Ammochostos and the Kyreneia Harbour are closed to shipping and navigation, and have been declared by the Government of Cyprus as prohibited ports of entry and exit, and no visitor is allowed to enter or leave the Republic through these ports.

        The largest port facility on the island, is situated in the western part of Lemesos (Limassol) town and can accommodate vessels of any L.O.A.
        Ferries connect Lemesos (Limassol) port with Greece, Israel, Egypt, etc.
        The port also serves as a base and stop-over for a large number of cruise ships conducting cruises in the region on a regular and frequent basis.

        Cyprus, an island of widely varied landscape offers excellent and countless opportunities to photographers.
        Breathtaking panoramas, picturesque villages, bustling towns, unique opportunities for flower and wildlife photography Cyprus has it all.
        [INLINE] However visitors must note that there are certain "restricted areas" for photography and they are requested kindly to pay strict attention to such warning signs.
        Photography is forbidden:
        [INLINE] near military camps or other military installations .
        [INLINE] in museums where a special licence is required by the appropriate authorities.
        [INLINE] in churches with mural paintings and icons, if "flash" is required.
        Films of almost all brands are sold in Cyprus, at various stalls, Photo laboratories, Duty-Free Shops etc.

        Pedestrians at uncontrolled zebra crossings have precedence over vehicles. Since traffic in Cyprus moves on the left hand-side of the road, pedestrians:

        [INLINE] should always walk on the pavements. If there are no pavements they should walk on the right-hand side of the road.
        [INLINE] should always look to their right-hand side before using the zebra crossing and
        [INLINE] should generally be careful when crossing streets.

        Lalki Geitonia, east of Platela Eleftheria (the capital's main square), the area around it, as well as most of the commercial streets within the walls are now a pedestrian area in Lefkosia.

        Crime in Cyprus is, comparatively. at a very low level.
        The Police is always ready to assist anyone who needs help.
        [INLINE] In case of emergency, telephone 199 (in all towns).
        All policemen speak good English.

        [INLINE] POSTAL SERVICES:

        Post Offices are open as follows:
        Monday - Friday: 07.30 -13.30
        Thursday: 15.00 -18.00 (not in July & August)
        Additional to the above the District Post Offices in Lefkosia, Larnaka, Lemesos and Pafos, the Branch Post Office at Plateia Eleftheria in Lefkosia, the City Central Post Office in Lemesos and the Post Office in Paralimni remain also open for the following hours:
        Monday - Friday: 15.00 -18.00 (October - April)
        16.00 -19.00 (May - September)
        Saturday: 09.00-11.00
        Post Offices at Plateia Eleftherias, Lefkosia and at the City Centre in Lemesos remain closed on Wednesday afternoon.
        All Post Offices remain closed on Sunday and Public Holidays.
        Airmail letters take approximately three to four days to Europe, but courrier services which give a fast "next day or sooner" delivery are available.
        Intelpost service is also available, for the quick dispatch and delivery of business papers, documents, etc.
        As postage rates vary for different classes of mail and destinations, it is advisable to check with local postal officials when posting mail.
        Postage stamps may be purchased from:
        Post Offices, Hotels and News-stands or Kiosks .
