Telecommunications in Cyprus are provided by the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (C.Y.T.A.), which is a Corporate Body responsible for the provision of telecommunication services both nationally and internationally. Coin operated telephones accept coins of 2, 5,10 and 20 cents denominations. All public cardphones and payphones may be used for national and international calls. The caller is only charged for one unit per call. For Call Direct calls dial the special code number of the destination country provided below. You will be immediately connected with an operator at the destination country who will ask for the telephone number you wish to be connected with. Charging will commence when the correspondent abroad accepts the call. Calls through this service are cheaper than ordinary collect calls.
