A meeting was recently convened by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Mr. Nicos Rolandis in order to "push" towards its final stage the issue of the establishment and operation of the business incubators for the high tech industries in Cyprus.  The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Permanent Secretary of the Planning Bureau and other Governement officials.

During the meeting, the up to-date developments in the promotion of the implementation of this institution were discussed. There was also an exchange of views about issues relating to the possible creation of more incubators in the future and the time for their establishment.  It is expected that,  based on the outcome of these discussions,  the Council of Ministers will take the necessary desicions at its next meeting for the further promotion of the issue.

It is also expected that the commencement of the operation of the incubators and the introduction of High Tech in Cyprus will be materialised next November.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism,  the High Tech will comprise a new big chapter in the industrial structure of Cyprus and it will give the opportunity to both Cypriot and foreign scientists and inventors to upgrade the Cyprus production and position Cyprus in the group of the technologically developed countries.
