Official visit to Cyprus by the Greek Minister of Development
Mr. Akis Tsohatzopoulos (26-28 August,  2002)

Greek Minister of Development Apostolos-Athanassios (Akis) TsohatzopoulosThe Greek Minister of Development Mr. Akis Tsohatzopoulos is coming  to Cyprus between 26-28 August, 2002 for an official visit, after an invitation from the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Mr. Nicos A. Rolandis. Mr. Tsohatzopoulos will head a big Greek delegation that will include among others  the Secretary General of the Ministry of Development Mr. G. Agrafiotis, the Secretary General of Industry Mr. A. Mitsis, the President of the Greek National Tourism Organisation Mr. I. Patelis and the Ambassador Mr. N. Demades.

During the visit, Minister Tsohatzopoulos will have talks with the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism on issues relating to high technology, industry and Small to Medium scale Enterprises, energy, standardisation, consumer protection and tourism and the following Protocols of Cooperation will be signed or countersigned:

·             Protocol of cooperation in the filed of High Technology

·             Protocol of cooperation in the filed of Industry

·             Protocol of cooperation in the field of Energy

·             Memorandum of cooperation in the field of Tourism

Mr. Tsohatzopoulos will be received by the President of the Republic Mr. Glafcos Clerides and will have a meeting with the President of the House of Representatives Mr. Demetris Christofias. He will also have a meeting with the House Committee on Trade and Industry.

In a specail meeting of the House Committee on Defence Mr. Tsohatzopoulos will be decorated for his contribution in the defence of Cyprus, under his capacity as an ex-Minister of National Defence of Greece. He will also have a meeting with the Chairman and senior officials of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mr. Tsohatzopoulos will have the opportunity during his stay in Cyprus to attend the opening ceremony of the Wine Festival in Limassol.
