Consumer Price Index for the Month of August, 2001

The Consumer Price Index for August 2001 increased by 0,59 units or 0,55% to 107,13 units compared to 106,54 in July 2001. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of certain fresh vegetables, fruit and potatoes. Decreases have been recorded in the prices of petroleum products.

2. For the period January-August 2001 the CPI recorded an increase of 1,81% compared to the corresponding period of 2000. The rate of increase of the Index for August 2001 compared to August 2000 was also 1,81%.
