Consumer Price Index for the Month of September, 2001

The Consumer Price Index for September 2001 increased by 1,57 units or 1,47% to 108,70 units compared to 107,13 in August 2001. This is mainly due to increases in the prices of clothing, footwear and furnishing items following the end of summer sales as well as to increases in the prices of certain fresh vegetables, potatoes, and tuition fees of private educational institutions and part-time educational coaching centres.

2. For the period January-September 2001 the CPI recorded an increase of 1,84% compared to the corresponding period of 2000. The rate of increase of the Index for September 2001 compared to September 2000 was 2,05%.
