Consumer Price Index for the Month of May, 2003

The Consumer Price Index for May 2003 decreased by 0,46 units or 0,39% to 116,04 units compared to 116,50 in April 2003. This is mainly due to decreases in the prices of petroleum products, certain fresh vegetables, medicines and electricity. Increases have been recorded in the prices of certain fresh fruit and clothing items.

2. For the period January-May 2003 the CPI recorded an increase of 5,04% compared to the corresponding period of 2002. The rate of increase of the Index for May 2003 compared to May 2002 was 5,11%.
