Consumer Price Index for the
Month of October, 1998 |
The Department of Statistics and Research announces that the
Consumer Price Index for October, 1998 decreased by 0,46 units or 0,37 per cent to 124,90
units compared to 125,36 in the previous month. This is mainly due to decreases in the
prices of certain fresh vegetables and electricity. Increases have been recorded mainly in
the prices of certain clothing items and potatoes.
2. The average rate of increase of the Index for the period
January-October 1998 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 2,47%
while the Index of October 1998 compared to the Index of October 1997 showed an increase
of 2,17%.
3. The average rate of increase of the Index for the last twelve months
(i.e. November 1997 - October 1998) compared to the preceding twelve months (i.e. November
1996 - October 1997) was 2,75%. |
