The Statistical Service announces that it has issued the report
entitled "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the period
January-March 2000.
2. The main developments in the first three months of 2000 compared to
the same period of 1999, were:
(a) The total registrations of motor vehicles during the first three
months of 2000 decreased by 14,3% to 7.082 from 8.262 vehicles in the
same period of 1999.
(b) Private saloon cars decreased to 4.071 from 4.698 last year
(January-March) i.e. there was a decrease of 13,3%. Of the total private
saloon cars 1.725 vehicles or 42,4% were new and 2.346 vehicles or 57,6%
were used vehicles.
(c) Goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 19,4% to 1.568 from last
year’s 1.946 vehicles. Light goods vehicles decreased by 20,7% to
1.398 and heavy goods vehicles decreased by 7,6% to 170 in January-March
2000.
(d) Mechanised cycles decreased by 19,0% and totalled 833 compared to
1.029 in January-March 1999.
