Registrations of Motor Vehicles
During January - September 1999 |
The Department of Statistics and Research announces that it has issued
the report entitled "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the
period January-September 1999.
2. The main developments in the first nine months of 1999 compared to
the same period of 1998, were:
(a) The total registrations of motor vehicles during the first six
months of 1999 decreased by 11,3% to 26.902 from 30.345 vehicles in the
same period of 1998.
(b) Private saloon cars decreased to 14.764 from 18.186 last year
(January-September) i.e. there was a decrease of 18,8%. Of the total
private saloon cars 4.846 vehicles or 32,8% were new and 9.918 vehicles
or 67,2% were used vehicles.
(c) Goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 7,3% to 5.223 from last
year’s 5.636 vehicles. Light goods vehicles decreased by 9,7% to 4.751
and heavy goods vehicles increased by 25,5% to 472 in January-September
1999.
(d) Mechanised cycles increased by 12,8% and totalled 5.285 compared
to 4.687 in January-September 1998.
