The Statistical Service announces that it has issued
the report "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the period
January-September 2000.
2. The main developments in the first nine months of
2000 compared to the same period of 1999, were :
(a) The total registrations of motor vehicles during
the first nine months of 2000 decreased by 6,6% to 25.129 from 26.902
vehicles in the same period of 1999.
(b) Private saloon cars decreased to 13.510 from
14.764 last year (January-September) i.e. there was a decrease of 8,5%.
Of the total private saloon cars 5.491 vehicles or 40,6% were new and
8.019 vehicles or 59,4% were used vehicles.
(c) Goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 0,8% to
5.182 from last year’s 5.223 vehicles. Light goods vehicles decreased
by 1,7% to 4.668 and heavy goods vehicles increased by 8,9% to 514 in
January-September 2000.
(d) Mechanised cycles decreased by 11,1% and totalled
4.699 compared to 5.285 in January-September 1999.
