The Bairaktar mosque , Nicosia

 The mosque of the Bairaktar (the Standard-Bearer) marks the place where the first Turkish standard-bearer succeeded in scaling the Venetian walls . He was killed on the spot and buried where he fell . The city was captured on the 9th. of September 1570 .
