CHAIRMAN'S
INVITATION

Every two years executives from all over the world, spanning the entire range of shipping activities, attend the Maritime Cyprus Conference which has been established as a major international event.

This year's Conference is scheduled to take place between 6 and 8 October 1997 and aims to provide an international forum for the discussion of topics of vital interest to the shipping world. Many distinguished shipping professionals will be addressing the Conference. The theme will be "A New Era in Shipping". The keynote speaker will be the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation, Mr William O'Neil.

On Sunday, 5 October 1997, a reception will be held at the Presidential Palace hosted by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Glafkos Clerides. The opening of the Conference will be on Monday, 6 October 1997.

On 9 October, the day after the Conference, a Workshop will take place, where eminent speakers from the shipping community will discuss the IMO's International Safety Management Code and the 1995 Amendments to the STCW Convention.

Conference proceedings have been scheduled for the mornings only, thus leaving the afternoons free for business or relaxation. Sightseeing tours and various cultural events will be organised for accompanying persons.

The attendance fee for the Conference is CY’170 (US$370) and for the Workshop CY’60 (US$130) per participant. Both fees include VAT.

I am pleased to enclose the programme and registration forms for the Conference and the Workshop.

I very much hope that you will be able to participate at this Conference.

Looking forward to meeting you in Cyprus.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. V. Pyrgos
