The desire to return to Ayios Epiktitos is not diminished by the passing of the years. People of Ayios Epiktitos are always active, publishing books about the village for the younger to learn and for the older to remember, gather videotapes and pictures from the village and stay alarmed for any changes that Turks perform in our village.
CONTINUED CULTURAL DESTRUCTION IN
OCCUPIED CYPRUS-AYIOS EPIKTITOS,
AGAINST GREEK-CYPRIOTS
Information about atrocities performed by Turks barbarians is also gathered. A list of these activities for the systematic cultural destruction of anything Greek from Ayios Epiktitos is given below:

 The destruction of the church of Ayios Epiktitos in the middle of our village and its conversion to a Mosque. |
2. The digging-up and total destruction of cemeteries in Ayios Epiktitos. Turks barbarians did not even respect the dead; in their pursue for gold and more money from looting they dig the graves to find golden teeth on the scalps of dead people, and broke ALL Crosses. Turkish-Cypriot newspaper YENIDUZEN(03/03/1989) reported that according to information received by the paper, Greek-Cypriot graves in the village of Ayios Epiktitos were robbed. The newspaper carries a picture of one of the plundered graves.

The Turks changed the name of Ayios Epiktitos to "Catalkoy" in their systematic effort to extinguish anything that is Greek from the occupied Northern part of Cyprus and claim this ancient Greek land for more than 3000 years to be Turkish. "Catalkoy" in turkish means split. |

5. Turkey is transferring Turks from Asia Minor to inhabit the occupied areas. It is part of their plan to totally change and destroy the cultural heritage of the Occupied Areas. These people have no relation to the Turkish-Cypriots. We have no differences with our co-patriots, Turkish-Cypriots after they were transferred there because of the Turkish invasion. We know that they are too victims of Turkey. We both want to reunite our country, send settlers away and, live a peaceful life. This will was expressed in various meetings and various visits held in the free zone.

The advertisement "FOR SALE" of STOLEN
properties inside Ayios Epiktitos. These properties are now under TURKISH
MILITARY OCCUPATION and their lawful owners are Greek-Cypriots, not
Turks. We, the lawful owners of that property are not even allowed to
visit our lands or houses. The whole area is controlled entirely by the
Turkish invasion army. There, "Law", and "Order"
have a different meaning much different, and barbaric, from the
declarations of the European Union. The Turkish militants do not recognize
the right for owing properties, nor the right for free trespassing to us,
the Greek-Cypriot lawful inhabitants of our village. If property is presented to you for sale in the Occupied Cyprus and more specifically in Ayios Epiktitos, always know that you are going to acquire STOLEN PROPERTY and that you too violate basic human rights concerning protection of property. |
Turkey has already been convicted by the European Court of Human Rights as the country responsible for violating the Human Rights rights of Mrs. Titina Loizidou, who has a house in Kyrenia and was forced out after the July 20, 1974 Turkish invasion.
7. Several Turkish Leaders choose Ayios Epiktitos as
their home. One of them is Serdar Denktash, son of Turkish-Cypriot Leader
Raouf Denktash. Raouf Denktash is a War Criminal, responsible for the Death of
many Greek-Cypriots. He is also responsible for the Ethnic cleansing in Cyprus
against both the Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots living in the occupied
areas of Cyprus, and for Crimes Against Humanity. He is the mastermind behind
all of the atrocities performed against Greek-Cypriots and for the destruction
of Greek Cultural Heritage in the occupied areas including archaeological
and religious sites.
The following
article was taken from Yeniduzen, a Turkish-Cypriot newspaper:
"YENIDUZEN (9.10.96) reports that burglars broke into the house of Serdar
Denktash in the occupied village of Ayios Epiktitos. The paper reports that
burglars rove the village and almost every night they break into a house."
8. Fugitive business man Asil Nadir escapes justice from
United Kingdom and finds refuge in occupied Cyprus. Article in The

Nadir of Polly Peck stands accused of executing probably the biggest fraud in
British history...
Nadir toasted escape with champagne and caviar. Report links Asil Nadir with
Catli gang. Asil Nadir laundered money and was involved in numerous illegal
activities in Great Britain. Asil Nadir continuous his
illegal activities by illegally building Tourist complexes in Ayios Epiktitos,
our village. One of these complexes is named "Garden of
Yasmin". We call it "Garden of the Wolves". We want to
assure him, that for all of his crimes, he will be accountable for, sooner or
later.
Two more Turkish Cypriots that illegally received Greek Cypriot properties by the Turkish military authorities are the contractor with the name Koursat, and Salih Poyiatshi who is supposingly is the "president of the chamber of commerce and industry of the occupied areas". In fact, Salih Poyiatshi is close relative of the other big thief, and leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Rauf Denktash.
Salih Poyiatshi participated in common meetings with Greek Cypriots supposingly as "embassador of goodwill" while at the same time he had and still has ILLEGALLY in his possession huge areas of lands in Ayios Epiktitos owed by Greek Cypriots. He is using these lands for tourist development. More specifically, Turkish Cypriots have set up real estate agencies selling houses, condos, and other properties to British and other European Citizens.

The illegal construction of Tourist facilities in Ayios Epiktitos and the illegal attraction of Tourists at an occupied area where the land and the property belongs to Greek-Cypriots, now refugees in their own country. Of course the Turks never refer to Ayios Epiktitos with its real name but always as "Catalkoy" in order to confuse and mis-direct the Tourists that do not know that the area they are visiting is under illegal military occupation. If you are traveling to Cyprus we strongly urge you not to visit the occupied areas of the island. If you do so you will give economic and political support to the Turkish militants. Ayios Epiktitos, our village is now inhabited
by Turkish-Cypriots primarily from Avdimou village. They moved there
during and after the invasion as part of the master-plan for
Ethnic-cleansing masterminded by Henry Kissinger and implemented by
Turkish militants. Henry Kissinger's active coordination and participation in the destruction of Cyprus is well documented in the book written by Christopher Hitchens The Trial of Henry Kissinger published recently. In this book Kissinger is held responsible NOT only for the destruction of Cyprus but also for other illegal and unethical undertakings in other countries such as Chile, Viet-Nam, Cambodia, Laos, et al. |
